Émilie Godin (b.1996, Montréal, Quebec) is an artist and furniture maker working at the intersection of sculpture, craft, and design. Her practice examines the interplay and tension between functional objects and sculptural forms. Her work reframes use within objects typically defined by their function, considering how their role becomes mutable through unconventional methods. By recontextualizing familiar forms, she questions the significance of everyday objects and how these associations can be redefined through material and form. This process explores how an experimental approach to furniture design can encourage more mindful interactions with otherwise mundane objects.
